It's warm today.
気温が高すぎるようだ。
The temperature seems a little too high.
夕方は雨になるんじゃないの？
It'll probably rain this evening.
あ，それで思い出しましたよ。
Oh, that reminds me.
けさの電話の天気予報では，夕方雨になるかもしれないと言ってましたね。
This morning over the telephone, the weatherman said it might rain this evening.
きょうは傘を持ってこなかったから，雨が降ると困るわ。
I didn't bring my umbrella today, so I'm in trouble if it rains.
だいじょうぶ。
Don't worry.
駅までぼくの傘で送ってあげますよ。
We can walk to the station together under my umbrella.
そういえば空は雲が多くなってきたなあ。
The sky does seem to be getting cloudy.
ニューヨークヘ帰りたいと思いませんか？
Don't you want to go back to New York?
いまのところは，別段帰りたくないわ。
At this point, I don't especially want to go back.
だいいち東京は治安がいいですもの。
Especially since Tokyo is such a safe place.
それは言えるなあ。
You can say that again.
東京はどんなに夜おそく歩いても安全ですよ。
No matter how late you walk around, Tokyo is still safe.
ニューヨークでは考えられないことだ。
It's something you wouldn't even think of in New York.
そうした面では,日本は確かにすばらしい国だわ。
As far as safety goes, Japan is a wonderful country.
日本人がおとなしいからかしら。
I wonder if it's because the Japanese are so quiet and well-behaved.
それもあるでしょうし，団結が強いせいかもしれませんね。
That's probably true. It might also be that group pressure is so strong.
ほんとに日本人は特殊な民族だと思うわ。
I really think the Japanese are a special kind of people.
