おっと，電車が来たぞ。
Here comes my train.
山の手線か。
It's the Yamanote Line.
よし，これに乗ろう。
Guess I'll get on that.
ずいぶん込んでるなあ。
It's pretty crowded inside.
これじゃ車内で夕刊は読めないな。
I guess I won't be able to read my paper, then.
しかたがない，家に帰ってから読もう。
Oh, well, I'll just read it when I get home.
でも日本人は，ほんとうによくがまんするよ。
Japanese put up with so much.
彼らは，電車は込むものと思い込んでいるのだろうな。
They probably think trains are supposed to be crowded like that.
さあ，次は秋葉原だ。
Akihabara is next.
ドアの近くへ行っておかないと，おりられなくなるぞ。
If I don't get next to the door, I won't be able to get off.
ごめんなさい。次でおりるんです。すみません。
Sorry. I get off at the next stop. Excuse me.
秋葉原駅に着いたぞ。
Aah... Akihabara at last.
さあ，おりよう。
Now to get off.
ああ，ひどい目にあった。
That was terrible.
このあとの総武線が，また込むんだろんなあ。
The Sobu Line after this one will probably be crowded, too.
ほんとうに東京の電車はうんざりするよ。
I get so fed up with the crowded trains in Tokyo.
わっ，ここもたいへんな人だ。
Wow! It's really crowded here, too.
電車は超満員になるだろうな。
The train will probably be packed.
電車が来たぞ。
Here comes the train.
これに乗るか，それとも，このあとの電車に乗るか，どっちにしようかな。
I wonder whether to take this train or the next one.
急がないんだから，このあとの電車にしよう。
I'm not in a hurry, so I might as well take the next train.
すぐ来るだろう。
It'll probably come right away.
電車に乗るだけでもたいへんだなあ。
It's even difficult to just get on the train.
アメリカでは考えられないことだ。
It's something you wouldn't even worry about in the States.
おや，何かあったのかな？
I wonder what happened?
事故が発生したのか？
Has there been an accident?
ああ，電車の窓ガラスがこわれたんだ。
Oh, a window broke.
超満員のために，だれかがガラスに押しつけられたんだろう。
It's so crowded that someone was probably pushed against the glass.
ひどいもんだ。
That's pretty bad.
さあ，やっと電車が動きだしたぞ。
The train's finally started to move.
あとの電車はすぐ来るだろう。
The next train will probably come right away.
こんどの電車はすいているだろうな。
It probably won't be that crowded.
あ，電車が来た。
Here comes the train.
ほう，すいている，すいている。
It's not crowded.
これはいい！ 待ったかいがあったぞ。
Great! Good thing I waited.
よし，これなら夕刊が読めるぞ。
I can even read my paper.
日本語の新聞は100パーセントは読めないが，これもいい勉強になるんだ。
I can't read everything in the Japanese newspaper, but this is good practice.
やっぱりわからない単語が，ときどき出てくるなあ。
Just as I thought. There are some words I don't know.
そういう単語には印をつけておいて，あとで調べるようにするといいんだが，それが，わりとめんどうくさいなあ。
I should mark those words and look them up later, but it's too much trouble.
でも，もっと積極的に日本語の勉強をしなくちゃいけないなあ。
I really must start studying Japanese more positively.
よし，帰ったら学習計画を立てることにしよう。
When I get home I'm going to make up a study plan.
はてな？ いま，どのあたりを走っているんだろう？
Hmm. I wonder where we are now?
錦糸町は過ぎたかな，それともまだかな？
I wonder whether we've passed Kinshicho or not?
なんだ，ここが錦糸町か。
Oh. This is Kinshicho right here.
あと５〜６分で新小岩だ。
In about 5 or 6 minutes I'll be in Shinkoiwa.
ミチコはまだ家に帰っていないだろうな。
Michiko probably won't be home yet.
帰ったらすぐにシャワーを浴びることにしよう。
As soon as I get home I'm going to take a shower.
それからハラさんに手紙を書くんだ。
And I have to write a letter to Mary.
あっ，しまった！
Oh, no.
東京駅地下街のＤＰ屋へ寄って，カラー写真を受けとってくるのを忘れた！
I forgot to pick up the color pictures at the underground center in Tokyo Station.
うっかりしてたなあ。
That was really careless of me.
しかたがない。
Oh well. I can't do anything about it now.
あす，帰りに寄ろう。
I'll stop by on my way home tomorrow.
あの写真の中でよく写っているのがあれば，ハラさんに送ってやろうか。
If there are some good pictures, I'll send them to Mary.
彼女は喜ぶだろう。まだ東京を見たことがないんだから――。
That'll probably make her really happy because she hasn't seen Tokyo yet.
さあ，電車が川を渡り始めたら，もうすぐ新小岩だ。
The train has started to cross the river so we're almost in Shinkoiwa.
よし，おりよう。
I've got to get off.
あれ，雨が降っているのか！ やはり天気予報どおりだ。
Hey, it's raining, just like the weather report said.
よし，きょうはタクシーで帰ろう。
I guess I'll go home by taxi today.
