心を意識にまかせること
「二心では何をしてもだめだ」とイエスは言っています。
Jesus said a double minded man is unsuitable in all of his ways.
一感覚器官があるものを好み、他の感覚器官がそれを好まない場合は二心ある状態です。
And it is double minded when one sense likes something and the other does not.
それゆえイエスはあらゆる点で誠実であれと教えています。
So Jesus urged man to be single minded in all of his ways.
言いかえれば、四つの感覚器官を奉仕の目的のために結束させることであって、裁きに使用してはいけないということです。
In other words ― unite all four senses for the purpose of service and not judgement.
そしてこれは意識の指導によってのみ可能です。
And this can only be done by conscious guidance.
なぜなら意識の中には好ききらいがなく、しかも意識はあらゆる現象の目的を理解しているのですが、心はそうでないからです。
For in consciousness there are no likes or dislikes, it understands the purpose for all manifestation but the mind does not.
あらゆる現象はまず意識のなかではらまれて、次に結果の世界へ生まれます。
All manifestations are conceived in cosciousness and born into the world of effects.
それはちょうど心が意識のなかではらまれて、その受胎の結果として生まれ出るのと同様です。
Just as the mind was conceived in consciousness and born as an effect of that conception.
だから心が結果（現象）によって導かれるのが容易になるのです。
This is why it is so easy for the mind to guide itself by effects.
そして心はあらゆる結果（現象）が起こった理由も知識も持つことはなく、好ききらいの判決をくだしています。
And not having the knowledge and the reason for all of the effects it passes judgement in either likes or dislikes.
心が楽しい状態を保とうとするならば、いつかはこうした勝手な意見を捨てなければなりません。
In time it must retract these opinions if it is to have a pleasant existance.
世の中のあらゆるトラブルはこのようにして作られてきました。
All of the troubles in the world have been so created.
そしてトラブルが大きくなってくると、人々は、目的を持って万物を創造した”全包容的な意識”である神の手にそれをゆだねようとします。
And when they become too great, people decide to place them in The Hands of God, which is the All Inclusive Consciousness that created all things with a purpose.
人々はこの”偉大な英知”が状況を修正してくれることを望みます。
Each person will hope that this Great Intelligence will correct the situation.
しかし多くの例でその修正法が示されても人々はそれに応じようとしません。最初に過失をおかした心によってその修正法が理解されないために、それが受け入れられないからです。
But when the correction is shown in many cases, it is not accepted for it is not understood by the mind which made the mistake in the first place.
そしてときとして心は最小の抵抗の態度をとり、不活発な状態となって何もしません。
And oftimes the mind takes the stand of least resistance, a state of inertia, and does nothing.
修正によって学びとろうという決意を持つかわりに、責任をのがれようとします。
It tries to escape its responsibility instead of having the determination to learn by correction.
神はみずから助ける者を助けると言われてきましたが、
It has been said that God helps those who help themselves.
そのように、望ましくない結果を修正し、報いを得るためには個人も何かをなさねばなりません。
So the individual must do something in order to correct the undesired results and have the rewards hoped for.
センスマインドの自尊心は、苦難に満ちた過程を見出すかもしれませんが、感覚を持つ人間は体験によって学ばなければなりません。
The pride of the sense mind may find the process painful, but the sense man must learn by experience.
そしてこれを成すためには本人は感覚器官同士が互いに尊敬し合うように訓練しなければなりません。
And to do this he must school the senses to respect one another.
現在そうであるように、それらは互いに尊敬感を持たず、そのため人は自己の存在に尊敬感を持ちません。
For as it is now they have no respect and as a result a person has no respect for his being.
そこで人は何かの感覚器官を楽しませてくれる人々以外の他人に対して尊敬感を持たないのです。
Thereby he has no respect for others, except those who please one or another sense.
センスマインドがみずから訓練をせず、自身を意識に支配させないならば、その状態は過去と同様に今後も続くでしょう。
Unless the sense mind disciplines itself and allows the consciousness to govern it, it will continue as it has in the past.
家族が幸福であろうとするならば、家族の各人は自分が尊敬されたいのと同様に、家族の各人をも尊敬しなければなりません。
If a family is to be happy, each individual of the family must respect each other member as he would like to be respected.
そして指導者である両親を信頼する必要があります。
And each must have trust and faith in the parents that are the guiding hands.
感覚器官についても同様です。それらは人間という世帯を作りあげている家族のようなものです。
And so it is with the senses ― they are the family that make up the household of a man.
したがって各感覚器官にたいしても互いに尊敬し信頼し合うように指導する必要があります。
And they must be taught respect, trust and faith in each other.
両親としての意識にたいしては特にそうです。
And above all, for the parent which in the consciousness.
みずからが作りあげてきた多くの習慣にもとづいている各感覚器官をもとの正しい状態にもどすのは容易ではないでしょう。
It will not be easy to rehabilitate the senses due to the many habits that they have cultivated.
しかしわれわれが天国のような生活をすごそうとすれば、右のことが達成されねばなりません。
But this must be done if we are to have a heavenly type of life.
生きるための理由を学び、これを理解する以外に方法はありません。
There is no other way except through learning and understanding the reason for life.
