印象の種類
印象には大別して二つの種類があります。
There are two avenues of impressions.
一つは、この世でよく知られている、曲がった性質の心によって作られた異常な悪魔細胞からくる印象と、もう一つは、たえまなく高揚の感じを与える宇宙的な性質を帯びた正常な細胞からくる印象です。
Those from abnormal or carnal cells created by the mind of distorted nature so well known in this world, and those that come from the normal cells of cosmic nature that give a constant feeling of elevation.
この両方に通じるドアーは出現させようとして開いています。そして両方の印象はテレビやラジオの電波と同様に全空間に満ちています。
The doors to both are open for manifestation and they permeate all space like the television and radio waves do.
われわれはそうした印象の海のなかに住んでいるわけですが、どちらを選ぶかは個人の気持しだいです。
We live in the sea of them and it is up to the individual to make the choice of which ones he wants.
もしあなたが悲惨な光景を描き出した戦争の光景を望むならば、そのような型に自分を同調させ、そうした環境のなかに生きることになりますし、
If we want a war picture depicting misery we can tune into that type and live in that environment.
また美しいメロディーに満ちた番組または親切な行為の遂行という番組を選んで、そのような環境を楽しむこともできます。
Or we can choose a program of beautiful melodies or a performance of kind deed and enjoy that environment.
前者は異常な生活であり、後者は高貴な生活です。
One is of noble life and the other is of abnormal life.
こうした生活は生命の海のなかで行なわれるということを忘れてはなりません。
And we must remember that all of this is taking place in the sea of life.
しかも人間にはそのいずれの環境のなかで生きるかを選ぶ自由意志が与えられます。
And we have been given a free will to choose which environment we wish to live in.
しかし私は世のなかのあらゆる面での異常な行為を無視せよというのではありません。
I do not mean that we should ignore the abnormal actions of any phase.
現世の最低の表現から最高の表現に至る生命を知ろうと思えば、あらゆる行為を観察する必要があるからです。
For if we are to know life from its lowest expression to its highest potential we must observe all actions.
そのようにすればわれわれは”動・反動”の法則、すなわち因果関係を観察しながら、人間のあらゆる行為の背後にひそむ因子を理解できるでしょう。
Then we will understand the cause back of them, observing the law of action and reaction ― cause and effect.
しかしわれわれは必ずしも行為者になる必要はありません。
But we do not have to became the actors.
われわれはプロボクシングの試合を見ることはできますが、選手にはなれません。しかし選手の心がどのように働くかを観察することはできます。
We can watch a prize fight and not become a fighter but we can see how the human mind operates.
あなたがこうした観察法を身につければ、よき知識をそなえることができるようになり、自分の方へやってくる、自分をトリコにするかもしれない印象類の型に気づくようになります。
When we can do this we are better equipped with knowledge and aware of the type of impressions that come upon us which could take over.
ここにおいて知恵というものの始まりがあるのです。
This is where wisdom begins.
イエスは牢獄へ出向いて囚人たちに話しかけましたが、
We are told that Jesus went to a prison and talked to the prisoners.
彼はそこの環境や獄舎から放たれる印象類（波動）の影響を受けませんでした。
But he was not affected by the environment or impressions that came from the prisoners.
次のように説明することができます。
We can use this illustration;
「高い建物の上におりさえすれば、眼下で行なわれるすべての物事を観察できる。
A man on a tall building can observe all that is taking place below him.
本人は混乱状態を見るけれども、それに影響されないし、そのなかに巻き込まれることもない」
He sees the confusion but is not affected by it nor does he become a part of it.
これこそあなたが自分の意識を通じて心の状態を観察する場合になし得る事なのです。
This is what you can do when you observe the actions of sense minds through your consciousness.
私はこの第９講の初めに、宇宙空間は宇宙的細胞に満ちていると述べました。
I stated at the beginning of this lesson that space is permeated with cosmic cells.
あらゆる細胞（原子その他の構成微粒子）は、心や、知られているかまだ知られていない万物を作りあげている意識ある実体です。
All cells are conscious entities that make up the mind and all forms known and yet to be known.
現在科学者はこのことを認めていますし、宇宙飛行士は宇宙空間の生ける細胞から印象を感受するように訓練されています。
Our scientists recognize this now and our astronauts are being taught how to receive impressions from the living cells in space.
これらの細胞は個人の心の意見にみずから同調することはありません。
These cells do not lend themselves to personal opinions of sense minds.
しかし心が宇宙的な源泉から印象を感受しない瞬間は人生にありません。
But there is not a moment in life that the sense mind does not receive impressions from the cosmic source.
ところが心はそれ自体の異常な状態で占められているために、宇宙的印象にたいして気づかないのです。それにもかかわらず宇宙的印象は確実に存在しています。
The mind may not be alerted to them because it is preoccupied with its own abnormal conditions, but the impressions are there just the same.
心がその印象に気づくようになる唯一のときは、自分自身にたいする関心を捨てるときです。
The only time that the sense mind becomes aware of them is when it loses its interest in itself.
ときとして、これは瞑想または沈思と呼ばれます。そのときこそ想念すなわち印象は急スピードで心の前を通過するのです。
Sometimes this is called meditation or silence, for it is then that thoughts or impressions move before the sense mind at terrific speeds.
ここでもまた人間はいずれの印象を受け入れるかについて注意しなければなりません。悪魔細胞によって生み出される異常な印象類は、同時に正常な印象と混じって通過するからです。
Here also one must be careful which ones he will give recognition to for abnormal impressions created by cells of that type join and move with the normal ones, just as fast.
にごった水が清らかな水と混じっているようなものです。
Like riley water mixing with clear water.
もし心が個人的意見を起こさないで深い注意を払うならば、二種類の印象に分けることができます。
If the sense mind pays close attention without self opinions it can differentiate between the two.
異常な印象は個人的な色合いを帯びていますが、にごった水と清らかな水との微妙な差のように、宇宙的印象は宇宙的性質を帯びているのです。
For one will have a personal tinge to it, while the other remains cosmic, like the shades between the riley water and the clear water.
自由意志を持つ心はそのいずれか一方を選ぶことができます。
And the sense mind with its free will can choose one or the other.
宇宙飛行士は心に希望的観測（こうあって欲しいという願い）と宇宙的真実とのあいだを区別するために右の事を学ぶ必要があります。
The astronauts will have to learn this in order to differentiate between the wishful thinking of the sense mind and cosmic reality.
前述のように、心が宇宙の意識から印象を受けないときはありません。
As said before, there will never be a time that the sense mind will not be receiving impressions from cosmic consciousness.
宇宙の意識は全知者であり創造主でありますので、それは創造物を愛しています。特にみずからの宇宙の意識の総計を表現し得る心にたいしてはなおさらです。
As it is the knower and creator it cares for its creation, especially the sense mind through which it can express its totality.
そこで恩寵の法則が行使されて、心にたいして、それと（宇宙の意識と）一体化して現象化するべき好機を与えています。
And the Law Of Grace is used, giving the sense mind an opportunity to unite with it and become one manifestation.
つまりわれわれは”生まれかわる”ことによってこの好機が与えられるのです（訳注＝この場合は肉体の生まれかわりを意味するのではなく、精神的な一大転換を意味する）。
We are given this opportunity through re-birth.
次のように質問する人があるかもしれません。「一定期間内に覚醒しないで死ねば本人はどうなるか？」と。
Some may ask, what if there is no improvement over a period of time!
その場合は来世において肉体の心は元の（前生の）状態を続けますが、本人は自分の正体を見失っています。
It seems under these conditions the sense mind returns to the original state, but it has lost Its identity.
正常な細胞は他の宇宙的細胞と結合し、異常な細胞はしだいに宇宙的細胞に吸収されます。
The normal cells unite with other cosmic cells and the carnal cells are gradually absorbed by the cosmic ones.
そして人間がひとたび自分の半身（意識）を知るならば、意のままに宇宙を見ることができます。
There will never be a time, once a man learns the other half of himself that he cannot view the Cosmos at will.
そのとき本人は宇宙的実体となるからです。
Far then he will be the cosmic self.
