放蕩息子の物語の真の意味

聖書中の放蕩息子の物語は、どうすればよいかについてのよい観察力をわれわれに与えます。
The story of the Prodigal Son in the Bible gives us a good insight as to what must take place.

放蕩息子の心はあらゆる人間の心（複数）を描いたものです。
The mind of the prodigal son is a portrayal of all minds.

なぜなら帰ろうと決心したあと、彼は家のだれかが自分を指さして自分の悪い行為を思い出させることを息子はよく知っていながら、自分を謙虚にし、自分の自尊心のすべてを投げ捨てて、もたらされるすべての物事に直面しなければならなかったからです。
For he, after deciding to return, had to humble himself and cast aside all of his pride, willing to face whatever might come. Knowing full well that some of the household would point fingers at him and remind him of his bad deeds.

息子は家の者たちの生活態度は自分のそれと異なることを知っていました。
Yet he knew that their life was not his life.

しかも彼らは似たような体験はあったかもしれませんが、息子が経てきた体験を持っていません。
And they had not had the experiences he had gone through, even though they may have had similar ones.

これらのすべてを知っていながら息子はなおも自分の心の意志を征服して、自己の真自我である意識の意志──万物の父──のもとへ帰ろうと決心したのです。
Knowing all of this he was still determined to conquer the will of his mind and return to the will of his real self ― the consciousness ― the Father of all forms.

家へ到着したとき息子のエゴは驚きました。
Upon his arrival home his ego received a surprise.

というのは父親が放浪の息子のために宴会を開き、あたかも何事もなかったかのように両腕を開いて歓迎したからです。
For his father had a banquet prepared for his wandering son and welcomed him with open arms as though nothing had ever happened.

エゴがみずからを征服しようとするほど大きな勝利はなく、その努力にたいする報いは無限なのです。
For when an ego conquers itself ― there is no greater victory and rewards for the efforts are unlimited.

そして各個人は生活の必要物すべてがすでに与えられているのであって、何も不足している物はないのです。
And the individual is endowed with all of the needs of life, wanting for nothing.

この放蕩息子の内部には、悪い事をしたのだぞとみずからをとがめた一つの小部分がなおもありました。それは家を出たことのない長男によって象徴化されています。
In the prodigal son there was still one small part that accused itself of wrong doing which was symbolized by the son who had never left the household.

あらゆる個人には本来の魂があるからです。
For in every individual the original spark remains.

それが迷える者にとって本来の場所へ帰って行こうとする唯一の希望となるのです。
That is the only hope for the straying one to be drawn back to his original place.

そこでその小さな本来の魂が放蕩息子にその行為を思い出させたわけです。
So the small original spark reminded the prodigal son of his deeds.

しかしこれはまもなく”宇宙の意識”によって克服されました。その意識は裁きや差別を知らないからです。
But this was soon overcome by Cosmic Consciousness for it knows no judgement or discrimination.

しかしこの勝利をかち取り、”宇宙の意識という海”の中へエゴたる自我を滅却させるには大いなる決心を必要とします。
But it takes a great determination to accomplish this victory and lose the self as an ego in the COSMIC SEA OF CONSCIOUSNESS.
