新鮮な想念によって肉体は若返る

各時代のいろいろな大師たちは一つの宇宙の原理を教えました。「人間は自分で考えるとおりの者になる」という原理です。
The masters of the ages taught one cosmic principle ― As A Man Thinketh So Is He.

金星の人類がいかに長く有益な生涯をすごすかをわれわれは知ることができます。
We can now see how the people on planet Venus maintain a long and useful life.

なぜならこの人類は常に新鮮さという見地で思考しているからです。
For they are constantly thinking in terms of newness.

地球人の年齢に換算して五〇〇歳になる金星人が若々しく見え元気盛りであるのです。
And a form 500 years old, of our time, looks youthful and in the prime of life.

ところが地球人は四〇歳にもなれば七〇〇歳になる金星人よりも老けて見えます。
While here on earth we look older at 40 than they do at 700 years.

われわれは年齢という見地でものを考え、数千年も続いた習慣で支配されています。
But we are thinking in terms of age and are governed by habits that are thousands of years old.

あなたは古いマントを着て若々しい気持を起こすことはできません。そのマントがあなたに影響を及ぼすからです。
And you cannot feel young by wearing an old cloak for it will have an influence upon you.

上等な生地で作られていても古いドレスやスーツなどはそれを着るたびにあなたは古めかしい気分を起こさせるでしょう。
An old dress or suit, even though made of very good material, will make you feel old everytime you put it on.

古くさい想念もこれと同じです。
So will the old thoughts.

反対に、新しい衣服はわれわれに若々しい感じを起こさせますが、同様に新鮮な想念をたえず持ち続けるならば肉体も若々しくなるのです。
We know that new clothing makes us feel younger, and so will new thoughts when we have them continuously.

しかし、新鮮な想念によってわれわれが望むような結果を得ようとすれば、その新鮮な想念を最重要視し、これと対抗的な想念とを混ぜてはなりません。
But if the new thoughts are going to have the results that we desire they must be given top priority and not mixed with opposite thoughts.

なぜなら混ぜ合わせると肉体内に闘争をひき起こし、その結果は必ず悪い状態をもたらすからです。
For this creates a conflict in the body and the results are anything but good.

最初は新鮮な想念を保ち続けるのは容易なことではありませんが、決意こそは望ましい結果を達成させるのです。
It is not going to be easy to maintain such thoughts at first, but determination will accomplish the desired results.

この講座の初めの部分で、心と関係があって、心に関連し、心から命令を受ける集団細胞について述べました。
In the first part of the lessons we mentioned group cells that are related to the mind and take orders from the mind.

九〇パーセントに及ぶこれ以外の細胞は意識から命令を受けます。
90% of the other cells take orders from the consciousness.

しかし肉体の細胞のすべてを意識からくる命令に従わせるように仕向けることはできるのです。これこそ自分を長生きさせようとする場合に、結局やらねばならないことなのです。
Yet they can all be made to take orders from the consciousness, which they must do eventually if the ego is to survive.
